Program
The Hatch from Scratch program is a comprehensive investigation of the entire incubation process from fertile egg to hatching. Although this program is mainly directed at higher Primary and Secondary levels, it can be easily adapted for all rural Kinders and Junior schools.
Eggs
Two dozen fertile eggs are provided with the kit, to allow for losses during the incubation process.
Hatching
Student participation commences with the simple assembly of the incubator. Our electronic thermostat ensures accurate temperature control for a high hatch rate. A Candling torch is supplied to allow observation of embryo growth.
Student Activities
Extensive documentation is provided for student assignments and to encourage participation, including rosters for egg turning, temperature and humidity logging, candling, brooder box manufacture and other projects.
Reference materials
A wide range of reference materials is available on our CD-Rom including embryology, candling techniques, chicken rearing etc.
Raising
Instructions to assemble a brooder box are provided complete with a list of material required.
Manual
The comprehensive Manual, Teachers Notes and Activities are provided on CD-Rom. Full instructions allow the students to assemble the incubator and construct a brooder box.
